  • Bill Schillinger is a Scientist and Extension Specialist who also serves as the Station’s Director. Bill leads long-term dryland and irrigated cropping systems experiments at the Station as well as in farmers’ fields. He also serves as principal investigator of the Columbia Plateau PM10 Project. Bill has authored and co-authored numerous papers on conservation-till and no-till management to control wind erosion, ecology and control of Russian thistle, economics of cropping systems, root diseases, soil water dynamics, and reducing runoff from frozen agricultural soils. He earned a Ph.D. in crop science from Oregon State University.
 
                         
 
  • Bruce Sauer is Farm Manager of the Lind Station. Bruce works closely with several scientists and technicians to establish and maintain experiment plots. He is responsible for conducting field operations, maintenance and repair of equipment, and supervision of all day-to-day activities at the Station. Bruce holds a B.S. degree in horticulture from the University of Idaho.
 
                         
 
  • Brian Fode, Utility Worker II, maintains the Station’s buildings and grounds. He has excellent machinery repair and metal fabrication skills. Brian also lends a hand with field experiments and other duties when needed.
 
                         
 
  • Tim Smith is an Agricultural Research Technician III in Dr. Schillinger’s research program. He supervises, monitors, and conducts all aspects of numerous field and laboratory experiments. Tim also maintains, repairs, and fabricates equipment used for experiments. Tim holds a B.S. degree in biology from Central Washington University.
 
                         
 
  • Steve Schofstoll is a Technical Assistant III in Schillinger’s research program. He regularly monitors soil water dynamics in field experiments using neutron attenuation and gravimetric methods, obtains numerous field and laboratory measurements, and conducts a wide range of other duties. Steve is responsible for statistical analysis of data and constructing figures and tables for presentations and publications. He holds a B.S. in agronomy from Washington State University.
 
                         
 
  • Masami ‘Dick’ Nagamitsu is a retired WSU wheat breeding technician. Dick spent his entire 39-year career at the Lind Station where he was instrumental in the development and release of several wheat varieties. In 2004, a new WSU soft white winter wheat variety ‘Masami’ was named in his honor. Dick holds a M.S. degree in agronomy from Washington State University.
 
                         
 
  • Gladys Nagamitsu is a part-time secretary at the Station, where she has worked since 1956. Gladys performs numerous secretarial duties, and plays a major role organizing the annual Lind Field Day. At the 2005 Field Day, Gladys was presented a special award for her 50 years of dedicated service and loyalty to the WSU Dryland Research Station.
 
                         
 
  • Cindy Warriner, Technical Assistant II, provides administrative support for Bill Schillinger’s research and extension programs, the Lind Station, and the Columbia Plateau PM10 Project. She is responsible for preparing materials for conferences and publications, and for organizing field days and other research/extension events. Cindy manages the budgets for research grants, maintains two Internet web sites, and conducts a myriad of other duties to keep projects flowing smoothly.
 
                         
 
  • Harry Schafer, is a retired Agricultural Research Technician III in Schillinger’s research program, but continues to work on a part-time basis. Harry holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from Central Washington University.
